QUALITY OF LIFE:
From Stateline to Mullan, the Canadian border to St. Maries, the five counties of North Idaho are a kaleidoscope of natural and manmade wonders. Lakes, rivers and streams dominate Idaho's five northern counties with 140 lakes and nearly 2,000 miles of rivers and streams.
North Idaho has much to offer, from the finest in health care, outdoor recreation and quality of life to excellent job and school opportunities.
COEUR D'ALENE:
Much of the fun-filled action in North Idaho can be found in the city at the center of the Idaho Panhandle-Coeur d'Alene. Coeur d'Alene is the county seat of Kootenai and is the sixth largest city in the state. Located at the junction of Interstate 90 and US 95, Coeur d'Alene is bound on the south by Lake Coeur d'Alene, which serves as the major attraction for downtown. With city beaches, parks and docks, the lake is easily accessible for swimming, boating, picnicking and water-related sports. Lake Coeur d'Alene, called one of the world's most beautiful lakes by The Encyclopedia Brittanica, extends 23 miles to the south and has 109 miles of shoreline.
POST FALLS:
The western gateway to North Idaho - Post Falls, Idaho's River City - welcomes you. The wooded hills to the south, the winding Spokane River in the heart of town and rippling grass fields stretching to the mountains provide a beautiful setting for this jewel of a town.
Post Falls is quickly becoming a favorite place for companies and their employees to relocate. Cooperation between civic and commerce groups, coupled with Post Falls' planned growth and developing infrastructure along the I-90 corridor, has made it an attractive place to do business.
HAYDEN LAKE:
Hayden Lake offers some of the most desired lakefront living in North Idaho. Its close proximity to Spokane and Coeur d'Alene and the many recreational opportunities available are enhanced by the limited access and peaceful water traffic. The "Gold Coast", as some parts of the shoreline of Hayden Lake are called, offer spectacular views. Many well-planned view developments allow for a wide variety of home prices and locations. Recently, the community of Hayden Action Team has taken on revitalization of the business district, increasing recreational opportunities and creating an economically prosperous "village" atmosphere. With it's many open spaces, the existence of the Coeur d'Alene Airport and it's surrounding industrial property Hayden is poised for successful "family friendly" community growth.
BAYVIEW:
Bayview, located at Idlewild Bay on the south end of Lake Pend Oreille, is a quiet little community that is home to several resorts and marinas. A favorite location for sailboat moorage, the bay is also home to several float house communities, which lend a feeling of an ocean-side resort in the area.
SPIRIT LAKE:
One of North Idaho's smaller lakes, it is home to nothing short of spectacular lakefront views with the majestic Selkirk Mountains to the west and north.
RATHDRUM:
Rathdrum, just 10 minutes north of Post Falls, offers small-town living at it's best. Anchored on the edge of the Rathdrum Prairie and nestled in the shadow of beautiful Rathdrum Peak, the city has a real "neighborhood" fell yet is just minutes from big-city amenities. With residential and commercial development on a well-planned expansion plan, excellent schools and services, Rathdrum is one of the fastest growing communities in the area.
HARRISON:
"The Other City on Coeur d'Alene Lake". Nestled at the mouth of Coeur d'Alene River, on the southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene, lies the picturesque town of Harrison. A bit of the old and a bit of the new are melded in perfect harmony in this community.
ST. MARIES:
The natural beauty and outdoor sporting opportunities of St. Maries are an appealing combination to visitors and residents Each season provides new and different possibilities for play and relaxation. St. Maries residents enjoy a high quality of life and a hometown spirit not found in larger cities.
